Health can be defined as someone’s physical, mental and social wellbeing and absence of illness and disease. The word “Health” carries a huge meaning. Health is not just the absence of illness, it is the maintenance of the inner equilibrium of the body as well as the outer equilibrium with the environment. It is actually a whole state of wellbeing including social, mental, and physical aspects. But we mostly associate health with only the physical efficiency of the body. Because of the same reason, we don’t give importance to other kinds of illness from which a large number of people are suffering from.
We commonly discussed only two types of health i.e. physical health and mental health. And we also talk about spiritual, emotional, and financial health among others.
Physical health is defined as the health-related to our body only. It is a state of the body in which there is a complete absence of disease and the body contains a high fitness level. It is related to the overall wellbeing of a body and can be affected by many factors such as diet, level of physical activity, environment, and by person’s genetics and physiology.
Mental health is related to a person’s mind. It is a condition of emotional, social, and psychological wellbeing. It is as important as physical health. Many factors affect the mental health of a person such as biological factors and life experiences of a person. Some people do not give importance to mental health. There is a need for much awareness in accordance with the mental health of a person.
Both mental and physical health affect each other
As poor physical health may lead to an increased risk of developing mental health problems. Similarly, poor mental health affects physical health which may lead to many physical problems. The persons with mental health issues are less likely to receive the physical wellbeing they are entitled to. These kinds of persons are more likely to smoke, drink alcohol and make many negative adjustments to their diet. That’s why these people destroy their physical health as well. In this way, some lifestyle factors affect our both physical and mental health i.e. exercise, diet, and smoking. These factors affect both the physical and mental health of a person positively or negatively.
Health is wealth
The most common phrase we might have heard once in our life is Health is Wealth. We can live without good wealth but we cannot live without good health. If there is health, there is everything. If a person does not have good health then what he should do with this materialistic thing? All we all need is inner satisfaction which comes through good health. Nowadays, unfortunately, most people are in a race of earning materialistic wealth which is nothing without good health.
So, we came to know that health is not just the absence of illness. And everyone in this world deserves to stay healthy and enjoy life.
